Orion is a giant huntsman of surpassing beauty, able to walk across the sea, who roams the wilds slaying beasts. Tales tell of his love for Merope and his blinding, his hunting beside Artemis, and his death by a scorpion's sting or the goddess's own arrow. After he falls, he is placed in the heavens as the great constellation that bears his name.
