Megaera is one of the three Erinyes, the avenging Furies born from the blood of the wounded Uranus falling upon the earth. Her name means 'the grudging one,' and she hounds those guilty of jealousy, broken oaths, and crimes against kin. With her sisters Alecto and Tisiphone, she pursues the guilty relentlessly, snakes in her hair and torment in her hands, until justice is paid.
