Khnum

Khnum is the ram-headed potter god who fashions life with his own hands. At his wheel he shapes each child and its ka from the clay of the Nile, molding not only the body but the spirit, then sets the new being in the mother's womb. He guards Elephantine and the cataract where the Egyptians believed the Nile's flood was born, so the god who creates each person also controls the waters that feed the whole land. Creation, in his hands, is not a distant cosmic act but an intimate, careful work repeated for every soul.
