Hymir

Hymir is a fierce sea giant, owner of a mile-deep cauldron the gods need to brew ale for Aegir's feast. Tyr, his son, leads Thor to fetch it. Hymir grudgingly hosts them, and Thor eats two of his oxen at supper, so the giant takes him rowing for more food. Using an ox-head for bait, Thor hooks Jormungandr itself and hauls the World Serpent thrashing to the gunwale; in terror Hymir cuts the line, and the serpent sinks back into the deep. Thor still wins the cauldron, shattering Hymir's drinking cup against the giant's own stony brow on the way out.
