Adrastus is the king of Argos who marshals the doomed expedition of the Seven against Thebes to restore his son-in-law Polynices. Every champion falls but him, carried to safety on his divine horse Arion. Years later he leads the sons of the fallen, the Epigoni, back to Thebes and at last sees the city taken.
