Völund

Volund is the master smith of Norse legend, prince of the elves, known in English as Wayland the Smith. Captured by the greedy king Nidud, he is hamstrung and marooned on an island, forced to forge treasures for his captor. He takes a terrible revenge: he lures the king's two young sons to his smithy, kills them, and works their skulls into goblets, their eyes into gems, their teeth into brooches, sending these gifts to the unwitting royal house. He rapes the king's daughter Bodvild, then forges wings and rises laughing into the sky, taunting Nidud with all he has done before he flies free.
