Eros and Psyche

Psyche is a mortal princess so beautiful that men abandon Aphrodite's altars to worship her, and the jealous goddess sends her son Eros to ruin her, only for the love-god to fall for her himself. Wed to an unseen husband who comes only in darkness, she betrays his trust by lifting a lamp to his face, and loses him. To win him back she endures Aphrodite's cruel, impossible trials, even a descent into the underworld, until the gods grant her immortality and unite Soul with Love forever.
