Euryale is one of the three Gorgons, daughters of the sea-deities Phorcys and Ceto, sister to Stheno and the mortal Medusa. Like Stheno she is deathless, with serpents for hair and a gaze that turns men to stone. When Perseus beheads Medusa, Euryale lets loose a cry of grief so terrible it echoes across the world.
