Agenor is the king of Phoenicia, son of Poseidon and father of Europa and Cadmus. When Zeus carries off his daughter in the shape of a bull, he sends his sons out to find her and forbids them to return without her. None succeeds, and his searching sons scatter across the world to found new lands, Cadmus among them raising Thebes.
