Arrows of Eros

Eros carried two kinds of arrows: gold-tipped ones that pierced the heart and filled it with overwhelming love, and lead-tipped ones that drove away all desire. He used them freely, causing some of the greatest love affairs and tragedies in myth. Apollo, who once mocked Eros's archery, was struck with a golden arrow for Daphne, who was simultaneously struck with lead. The result was eternal, unrequited pursuit.
