Cave of Polyphemus
The Cyclops's cavern, a trap of stone and darkness that Odysseus barely escaped.
On an unnamed island, the one-eyed giant Polyphemus, son of Poseidon, kept his flock of sheep in a great cave sealed with a boulder no mortal could move. When Odysseus and his men sheltered there, Polyphemus sealed them in and began eating them two by two. Through cunning, getting the Cyclops drunk and blinding him with a sharpened stake, Odysseus escaped, but in doing so drew the wrath of Poseidon upon himself.
