Aeaea was the mythical island home of Circe, daughter of Helios and master of transformation magic. When Odysseus's men landed on her shores, she turned them into pigs with a wave of her wand. Odysseus, protected by the herb moly given by Hermes, resisted her magic and eventually became her lover. He and his crew spent a year on Aeaea before Circe helped them navigate further toward home.
