Scylla is the monster of the narrow strait, once a lovely nymph poisoned into horror by jealous Circe. Six ravening heads on long necks lunge from her cliff, each snatching a sailor from passing ships. Opposite her churns Charybdis, leaving seafarers no safe course between them.
