Phineus is a king and prophet punished by the gods for revealing too much of the future, struck blind and plagued by the Harpies, who snatch and foul his every meal. When the Argonauts arrive, the winged sons of Boreas drive the Harpies away forever. In gratitude, Phineus tells them how to pass the Clashing Rocks and survive the voyage to Colchis.
