Glaucus is a mortal fisherman who eats a magical herb growing by the shore and feels the sea calling him into its depths. The ocean gods transform him, and he rises again with a fish's tail and sea-green, dripping form, immortal and gifted with prophecy. He loves the nymph Scylla, but when the sorceress Circe's jealousy poisons her bathing pool, he can only watch his beloved twisted into a monster.
