The Cretan Bull is the magnificent beast Poseidon sends from the waves for King Minos to sacrifice, but Minos keeps it, and the god in fury makes Minos' wife Pasiphae lust after it, conceiving the Minotaur. As his seventh Labor, Heracles wrestles the rampaging bull and bears it back to Mycenae alive. Set loose, it wanders to Marathon, where Theseus at last hunts it down.
